Tallahassee’s Top 5 Healthy, Organic Restaurants

Looking for the best restaurants in Tallahassee, Florida, that won’t compromise your healthy diet? We hear you! While the Capitol of Florida has an abundance of restaurants, we have found the best of the best to recommend to you.

Our team vets the healthiest restaurants all across America according to our strict standards of ingredient, preparation and environmental guidelines. We are happy to announce our Top 5 restaurant picks for healthy, organic restaurant options in Tallahassee:

Backwoods Crossing

6725 Mahan Drive
Tallahassee, Florida 32308
850-765-3753

One of our team members recently visited this restaurant, and we now understand why it is rated the #2 restaurant in Tallahassee! No small feat for this up-and-coming restaurant on the outskirts of the Capitol City.

Backwoods Crossing sources local fruits, veggies, meats, seafood, and wine from local producers, and they also grow their own produce! What began as a few raised beds in the front lawn to supply the restaurant with some fresh herbs has morphed into a full-fledged three and a half acre farmette supplying a variety of fresh, farm grown veggies and fruits.

Dinner entrees include Tuna a La South (seared sesame seed encrusted yellowfin tuna over seasonal garden vegetables, roasted red potatoes, finished with balsamic glaze and sriracha), Filet of Florida (Seminole pride filet mignon, Crossing’s shiitakes, seasonal garden vegetables, roasted red potatoes, mushroom gravy, crispy onion slivers), and “Stolen from N’awlins” (blackened chicken breast, beer-braised Bradley’s sausage -- a legend in this area by the way -- Crossing’s shiitakes, red onions, roasted red peppers, Cajun parmesan sugo-rosa sauce, over penne).
